At SafeHaven of the Ozarks, you'll find a safe, inviting setting where families in crisis are encouraged to heal.  Our comfortable, home-like setting encourages positive family relationships and is designed to enhance the process of healthy reunification when a child is in foster care,  alienated from his/her family, or otherwise in crisis.

 

Families who come to SafeHaven will find a house with toys and games, comfortable furnishings, and a yard with outdoor activities.  Parents will be encouraged to bond with their child through such activities as reading a book in front of the fireplace, baking cookies together in SafeHaven's fully operational kitchen, playing catch in the backyard, playing air hockey and board games, or watching a movie together as they munch on popcorn.

 

Parents may fulfill court-ordered Parenting Education requirements through individual and group parenting classes.  A special curriculum is offered for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.   Additional parenting classes are provided to parents who themselves were victims of physical or sexual abuse. 

 

SafeHaven offers Custody Exchanges for parents who wish to exchange custody of their children without interacting with the other parent. 

 

 

 

Our counseling and therapeutic supervised visitation services are provided by licensed professional counselors (LPCs) from community partners LifeCare Counseling and Associates In Caring.  Monitors and parent aids are practicum students who are extensively trained and formally supervised by LPCs.
